Many moons ago, the mother requested for home made beef patties. I have several recipes on hand but the one that I actually wanted needs to be spicy and thick. I mean, what’s the point of having home cooked food but stingy with the ingredients? Just do everything in moderation and trust me, you’ll marvel at your very own creation 😉

The dad loves this and it’s very filling indeed for any meal of the day. I have since renamed the Bronco Burger to Bronco’saurus (courtesy of Norza of Pixelated Theory) due to its massive appearance.

And here’s the recipe just for you.

  • 1 kg ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup Heinz Honey Garlic BBQ Sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (Tabasco™)
  • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 8 burger buns (or Focaccia bread)
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • Dijon mustard
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced and sauteed with olive oil and black pepper
  • Grilled beef bacon
  • Butterhead lettuce


Preheat a grill for high heat.

In a large bowl, use your hands to mix together the ground beef, egg, BBQ sauce, onion, cayenne pepper, hot pepper sauce, mixed herbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper and bread crumbs.

Divide into 8 balls, and flatten into patties. Grill patties for 10 to 15 minutes, turning once, or until well done.

Coat the inner sides of the buns with Dijon mustard, place the butterhead lettuce at the bottom followed by the beef patty, sauteed onions, beef bacon and finally, the cheese. Easy aye 😉
