Chilli Tuna Pasta

Twice my mom requested for some spaghetti and tuna for dinner. And I was racking my brain on how to combine these two elements together. For me, it’s normally tuna served as sandwich or salad but never with pasta. This posed as a challenge and I embraced it with open arms 😉

This is my very first creation and, I suppose, it’s quite fun to create your very own dish once in awhile. I actually read Nigella Express for some inspiration and found two possible recipes that I can merge successfully. This is pretty much instant gratification.

In fact, this recipe feeds two hungry people anytime of the day. And if you love your food hot and spicy, I bet you’ll like this too. Here’s Chilli Tuna Pasta and don’t limit yourself to spaghetti only. You can use linguine or fettuccine as you please.


  • 1/3 packet spaghetti
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin oil
  • 3 – 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 red chilli padi, finely chopped (or more depending on your spicy tolerance level)
  • 1/2 big yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 can Ayam Brand Chilli Tuna Flakes
  • 12 pieces Narcissus Brand Mushroom, sliced
  • 10 cherry tomatoes, cut in half
  • Mixed herbs
  • Fresh parsley
  • Salt to taste


Cook spaghetti according to package instructions, then drain and cool. In a bowl, mix spaghetti with half a tablespoon of olive oil. Set aside.

In a pan, heat the olive oil and put in the garlic, onions and chilli padi. Add mixed herbs as desired and constantly stir the onions around the pan so they don’t stick. Add mushrooms and cherry tomatoes and cook for one to two minutes more. Add the tuna flakes and spaghetti and toss until heated through, then add salt to taste. Once heated through, remove skillet from the heat and serve immediately, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.
