Chocolate Cheese Brownies

28 Jun

My aunt baked this eons ago and all of us LOVED it! It is now a staple dessert during our many family gatherings. And of course, I asked my aunt for her trusted recipe. Easy peasy, I must say! But each person has his/her own way of baking brownies. Am not quite there yet but nonetheless, I love eating this with vanilla ice-cream.

Without further ado, I present you with our family recipe… the Chocolate Cheese Brownies 🙂

Chocolate Mixture

  • 240gm butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 175gm self raising flour
  • 500gm chocolate collata (baking chocolate)
  • 1 tablespoon Van Houten cocoa powder

Cheese Mixture

  • 250 gm cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup fine sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 egg

Melt butter with the chocolate collata. Remove from fire. Stir in brown sugar, followed by eggs and vanilla essence. Stir in flour and add the Van Houten cocoa powder.

Beat the cream cheese with fine sugar and butter. Then add the egg. Swirl in the cheese mixture amongst the chocolate mixture. Bake at 150 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes.

For a devilishly sinful gastronomical affair, serve chilled chocolate cheese brownies with vanilla ice-cream 😉

Yummeh! Can’t wait to try the recipe. If don’t include the cheese mixture, it will be like normal brownies right?

Thanks babe for putting the recipe 🙂

      Hello darling,

Yup! It’d be normal brownies if you don’t add the cheese mixture. But you can always add nuts and/or chocolate chips if you feel like it. Enjoy the baking process 🙂

Hi! Your recipe calls for collata but your method of baking this mentioned “add one tablespoon of Van Houten chocolate”… So can I clarify, which is which? Would like to try this recipe soon. Appreciate the early reply! 🙂

      Hi there Inah,

You’ll need both the chocolate collata and one tablespoon of Van Houten cocoa powder for this recipe. And thanks for highlighting that; will make the necessary amendments to avoid the confusion 🙂

      Good Luck!
